Early Childhood - Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (EC-PBIS)

Early Childhood - Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (EC-PBIS) based on the Pyramid Model (Fox, Dunlap, Hemmeter, Joseph & Strain, 2003) is an effective, evidence-based approach for supporting social competence and addressing challenging behavior in young children. Various modules are offered specific to infant toddler, preschool and mixed group care in a home and/or center setting.

  • Child Care Centers (CCC) and preschools, EC-PBIS, EC-PBIS-IT
  • Child Development Homes (CDH), EC-PBIS, EC-PBIS-IT, EC-PBIS-FCC

i-PoWeR Professional Workforce Registry

  • Iowa's Early Childhood and School Age Professional Workforce Registry (i-PoWeR) is a comprehensive registry where you can find and enroll in the Department of Human Services (DHS) approved professional development opportunities related to early childhood and school-age professionals. It will also maintain a record of your professional achievements. Approved training opportunities can be accessed by visiting i-PoWeR.

Training Narrative for EC-PBIS

This training series will allow providers to gain an understanding about the importance of building relationships with children and families of preschool age children. Additionally, they will be able to describe and identify various strategies that can be used to encourage and support positive behaviors through a child care environment design, structure transitions, rules, routines and engaging activities. This training is NAC approved.

Training Narrative for EC-PBIS-IT

This training series will allow providers to gain an understanding about the importance of building relationships with children and families of infants and toddlers. Additionally, they will be able to describe and identify various strategies that can be used to encourage and support positive behaviors through a child care environment design, structure transitions, rules, routines and engaging activities. This training is NAC approved.

Training Narrative for EC-PBIS-FCC

Family child care providers report that challenging behaviors continue to be an important issue for them as they perform their professional roles. The EC-PBIS-FCC modules outline effective practices for implementing the Pyramid Model in Child Development Homes. CCR&R delivers the EC-PBIS-FCC modules throughout Iowa with consultation services available to support implementation and practices in this setting.
