Early Childhood - Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (EC-PBIS) based on the Pyramid Model (Fox, Dunlap, Hemmeter, Joseph & Strain, 2003) is an effective, evidence-based approach for supporting social competence and addressing challenging behavior in young children. Various modules are offered specific to infant toddler, preschool and mixed group care in a home and/or center setting.
Iowa's Early Childhood and School Age Professional Workforce Registry (i-PoWeR) is a comprehensive registry where you can find and enroll in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved professional development opportunities related to early childhood and school-age professionals. This training series will allow providers to gain an understanding about the importance of building relationships with children and families of preschool-age children. Additionally, they will be able to describe and identify various strategies that can be used to encourage and support positive behaviors through a child care environment design, structure transitions, rules, routines and engaging activities. The EC-PBIS-FCC modules outline effective practices for implementing the Pyramid Model in Child Development Homes. CCR&R delivers the EC-PBIS-FCC modules throughout Iowa with consultation services available to support implementation and practices in this setting.
