Fingerprint Processing Update from HHS

October 31, 2022

Dear Child Development Home Providers, Child Care Center Directors, CCA Providers, and Partners,

This letter is to follow up from the previous communication sent on 9/28/22, regarding Iowa’s partnership with FieldPrint, the new Livescan fingerprinting process.

The new process IS LIVE as of tomorrow, November 1, 2022. Federal record checks are required every 4 years. When using FieldPrint, there is NO COST to child care providers.

Child Development Homes & CCA-Paid Child Care Homes

  • When you renew or modify your registration, if new federal record checks are required, HHS will inform you and provide you with the necessary code, if you choose to use FieldPrint.
  • If you are not renewing or modifying your registration status, you do not need to take any action until HHS reaches out to you, directly.

Child Care Centers

  • Child care center directors must set up an account here using your program’s unique OCA code. This code is what you previously included on the FD-258 FBI Fingerprint Card.
  • Once your organization sets up their account with Fieldprint, you will receive an email with your programs unique Fieldprint code /FPcode.
  • New staff and existing staff who need to obtain fingerprints may schedule an appointment using your program’s Fieldprint code/FP Code.
  • If you do not know your OCA code, please contact the Department of Criminal Investigation at dciinfo@dps.state.ia.us.
  • You will be receiving an additional email directly from HHS with additional resources to assist you, including a newly updated Record Check Guide.

Appointments can be scheduled at Fieldprint® Iowa. Please see this guidance document if you need assistance in scheduling your appointment.

Thank you for your partnership and your patience as we roll out this new process.

Sincerely,
Ryan Page
Child Care Program Manager
Iowa Department of Health and Human Services
