August 11, 2021
Hello Child Care Providers,
We are writing to remind you that August 2021 will be the last month the Department of Human Services (DHS) will be providing stipends and unlimited Child Care Assistance (CCA) absences to child care facilities. The DHS website has and will continue to provide updated information regarding all funding opportunities. We have heard from many of you and recognize that this funding has been extremely helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are pleased that we were able to provide these financial supports for 18 months.
You should receive your last stipend payment sometime before September 30, 2021, for the month of August. August absent days must be submitted no later than end of day on October 3, 2021, to receive payment.
The Department of Human Services is working closely with other state agencies and stakeholders and is looking forward to the release of the Governor’s Child Care Task Force recommendations. The Task Force was charged with developing a comprehensive strategy to address issues that contribute to child care challenges. Issues included but not limited to include: regulations that pose barriers, workforce issues such as recruitment, retention and wages, and opportunities to support an infrastructure that supports increased child care availability.
Thank you for all the work that you have done and continue to do for children and families in your communities.
