Wondering how to sell the benefits and opportunities of your child care business to attract suitable candidates? You are not alone! Many child care centers across the state of Iowa have been struggling to recruit staff. A Northwest Iowa Center Director shared, “Our center had to close a classroom due to not having enough staff to cover ratio.” Many centers across the state are in crisis due to the lack of staff they have available to cover the staff to child ratio. There are many concerns around recruiting quality staff that center directors feel on a daily basis.
Because of these concerns, Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) has been working with statewide partners to offer a list of resources that will assist with finding your audience, attracting child care individuals to your business, how to sell your company culture and identifying benefits to offer to keep these essentials workers in the field! Utilize this information and prepare your job descriptions and start recruiting new staff!
CCR&R is also proud to share another new partnership with IowaWORKS. If you do have job openings in your program, please let the state know! Our job posting webpage features options for sharing your open positions. “I think this resource is a great opportunity for center directors to utilize. Advertising open positions and finding passionate and quality candidates is going to be so much easier!" states Heather, Child Care Consultant Supervisor for CCR&R of NW Iowa.
If you have any questions or need more information about any of the recruitment resources provided, we hope that you will reach out to your CCR&R Child Care Consultant or Community Development Specialist. We are all in this together, please reach out for support as needed.
CCR&R hopes all Child Development Homes will take advantage of this new training curriculum, ChildNet 3.0.
