Child Care WAGE$® IOWA (WAGE$) is continually working to grow our reach across the state and we are excited to announce expansion to 40 counties for FY ’20! Please find our map showing eligible areas, including four new counties: Benton, Tama, Taylor, and Union.
We were able to expand to these 4 additional counties because of funding from two additional ECI areas. We wouldn’t be able to support WAGE$ in these counties without this funding.
We are excited to expand to these areas and will begin outreach on July 1. As good stewards of information and partners, we wanted to let you know that mailings will be going out to all DHS registered home providers and licensed programs to share information about WAGE$. For providers who may not be eligible (i.e. not on the QRS), we hope to work together to increase program quality and expand eligibility for WAGE$.
Along with announcing the four new counties, I also wanted to share a quick recap on WAGE$. It is a salary supplement program that offers stipends to the early care and education workforce based on an individual’s level of formal education and commitment to their program. WAGE$ works to address quality, retention, and education in the workforce. Stipends vary from $500 to $3,500 annually; amounts are dependent on individual college education.
