In collaboration with the National Association for Family Child Care, Child Care Aware┬« of America is proud to announce this FREE upcoming webinar:

Helping Child Care Providers Prepare for Radiation Emergencies

Child care providers play a critical role in keeping children safe from a variety of emergencies.  Planning for emergencies like fires, tornadoes and earthquakes is common practice in child care programs, but some emergencies with less probability also exist and child care providers may not know what steps to take to keep themselves and children safe. One of the least understood and greatly feared threats is a radiation emergency. Radiation emergencies may be unintentional (e.g., caused by a transportation accident) or intentional (caused by humans with the intent to cause harm to large numbers of people). Experts from public health organizations, including the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will lead this webinar to help the child care industry understand the threats presented by radiation, response techniques and resources available to become better prepared.

Webinar Objectives:

  • Child care professionals will have a greater understanding of radiation emergency basics (what is a radiation event, what are the risk levels, main threats from radiation)
  • Participants will learn basic response techniques to keep children and staff safe (not unlike other emergencies with a shelter in place response)
  • Participants will gain a greater understanding of resources available to learn more about preparation and response actions

This webinar will be presented on Monday, Mar 26, 2018 from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM CST and you can register here.
